The 5 churches in Engerdal

 
Engerdal church was built in 1873, and is the main church of the municipality. The chandelier is made by Hans Sorken, a world wide known wood carver from this area. The two cast iron bells in the tower are from Bochum in Germany. The first church in Engerdal was attempted built in 1800, but did not get a building permit.

Søre Elvdal church was built in 1885. This is the smallest of the churches in Engerdal, and is a long church. The church was used as a school for many years.
 
 

Drevsjø church was finished in 1845. The church bells of cast iron are made in Bochum in Germany. The baptismal font is made by Hans Sorken. The altarpiece is painted by Th. Holmboe. On the churchyard a monument of the opponent Konrad Eriksson Lillebo is put up. He was killed by a German bullet in November 1944.

Sømådalen church was built in 1937, but the rural district has had a burial place since 1923. The altarpiece is even here made by Hans Sorken. They had tried to get a building permit for a church in Sømådalen for a long time but first when little Torger Joten died on his way home from the christening in Elgå in a terrible storm on the lake Femund in 1932, the building was released.
 
 

 
 
Elgå new church was opened in 1946. There had been a help – churchyard since 1853. The bell and the altarpiece is from the old church that was finished in 1878, with a school on the first floor and church room on the second floor. Th. Holmboe has painted the altarpiece, whereas the pattern on the pulpit is taken from an old door from the district.
